Celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred is now facing her second bar investigation in Washington DC for misconduct involving her handling of a local TV weatherman's discrimination case.

Kyle Hunter hired Allred in 2012 to square off against CBS when he claimed some of the network's channels passed him up in favor of younger, attractive women.

The weatherman turned on Allred when his appeals were dismissed, saying she had a conflict of interest and mishandled his case, prompting him to file suit in June.

The State Bar of California started an investigation of the high profile attorney for the handling of Hunter's case in March.

Now the 76-year-old is facing her second investigation in Washington DC, for the alleged misconduct of the same case, it was revealed on Monday.

The second probe into Allred's alleged legal malpractice was first reported by LawNewz.com.

Allred is a noted civil rights lawyer, known for taking on a string of controversial celebrity cases.

She is the mother of celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom, who recently was in the news for taking on Blac Chyna as a client and a woman who is suing Usher.

The Washington DC Office of Disciplinary Counsel has been investigating and gathering evidence since May, according to LawNewz.

In a statement provided to the site, Hunter said: 'I am very pleased that The State Bar of California and the Washington D.C. Bar are taking their investigations into Ms. Allred very seriously.'

In rebuttal, Allred responded: 'Anyone may file a complaint against any lawyer in any state or jurisdiction in which a lawyer is licensed.

'This complaint which Mr. Hunter filed with the Washington, D.C. bar some time ago is the same complaint that he filed with the California Bar.'

Allred continued: 'All Bars investigate all complaints against lawyers. This is routine and expected.'

Hunter filed suit in June, claiming that he was left jobless and almost penniless after it was ruled he would have to pay $800,000 to CBS.

His appeals were dismissed in 2016, when a court said he hadn't provided sufficient evidence to disprove CBS's claim that he lacked the 'talent, skill or on-air presence' to make it in LA.

It also said that he hadn't provided any statements from his co-workers.

The suit alleges that Allred failed to talk to Hunter's co-workers, whom he says would have backed up his claims.

It also says Allred entered into a settlement for less than the $800,000 award without his permission.

Hunter claims that he confronted Allred with the claim that she hadn't properly represented him, and her response was less than spectacular.

'Allred explained to Hunter that he should feel like a "winner" because the trial court ruled in his favor,' the suit says.

'When Hunter responded that losing his case, career, income, healthcare, reputation, and having case law in his name that was adverse to every journalist and broadcaster in California did not make him feel like a "winner," Allred offered no response.'

As well as mishandling the case, the lawsuit says, Allred also breached ethical obligations by negotiating a deal with CBS for a TV show based on her life.

'Allred has spent her career more focused on winning press conferences than winning cases,' the suit says.

'In this case, Allred sandbagged her client to serve her personal pecuniary interests, her penchant for public fame, and to protect the malfeasance of her media allies.

'Allred needs to spend less time in front of a TV camera, and more time in an ethics library.'

In response, Allred's firm offered the following statement: 'Mr Hunter has been threatening to sue our law firm for approximately one year in an attempt to get our law firm to pay him money which he is not entitled to.

'We represented Mr Hunter vigorously and with devotion and with the utmost integrity.

'We advanced his case through all the courts in California, including two attempts to have his case heard in the California Supreme Court.

'He has no valid claim against our law firm or its partners and we will pay him nothing for his worthless claims. We will vigorously defend ourselves and we believe that we will prevail.'
